Most "lock change" calls don't actually need new locks. Below we explain every option so you can choose with confidence — and our technician will confirm the right one on site before any work begins.
Full Lock Change (New Hardware)
A lock change means removing the old lock completely and installing new hardware. This is the right choice when locks are worn out, rusted, mismatched between doors, low-grade builder hardware, or when you want to upgrade security or style. We carry deadbolts, knob sets, lever sets and mortise locks on every van, so most lock changes are completed in a single visit — usually under an hour for a typical Queens or Nassau home.
Rekeying — Same Lock, New Key
A rekey keeps your existing lock hardware but changes the internal pins so old keys no longer work. It costs significantly less than a full replacement and is the smart move after moving into a new home, losing a key, ending a tenancy, or when a contractor or housekeeper's key was never returned. Every lock we rekey is also inspected for wear and lubricated before we leave.
High-Security Lock Upgrades
Standard hardware-store locks can be picked, bumped or drilled in seconds. We install patented, key-controlled cylinders from Mul-T-Lock, Medeco and ASSA that resist all three — and duplicate keys can only be cut by an authorized dealer with your key card. For Queens and Brooklyn homes this is the single most effective security upgrade available.
Mortise Lock Change for NYC Doors
Older New York apartment doors and brownstones use mortise lock bodies recessed into the door edge. These are more complex than bored cylindrical locks and require exact fitting. We stock mortise cylinders, thumbturns and trim in the common NYC formats and can change or rekey them without damaging your door.
Commercial Lock Change & Master Key Systems
For storefronts, offices and multi-tenant buildings we change mortise cylinders, Adams Rite storefront locks, panic bar trim and interchangeable core (IC) systems. We also design master key systems so managers carry one key while staff access only their own doors — and we rekey the whole system when an employee leaves.
Keyed-Alike Convenience
Tired of a ring full of keys? If your locks are compatible brands we can key them all alike — front door, back door, gate and garage on a single key. When locks don't match, we can replace them with a matched set keyed alike from the start.
Landlord & Property Manager Service
Between-tenant rekeys, eviction lockouts with the marshal, code-compliant hardware for common areas, and volume pricing for multi-unit buildings across Queens, Brooklyn and Nassau. We keep records of your keying so repeat visits are fast.
Post-Burglary Emergency Change
After a break-in or an attempted one, we respond the same day: replacing damaged locks, upgrading weak points the intruder exploited, and rekeying every remaining cylinder so any stolen keys are useless.
